Smart Buildings – EnOcean Alliance

As you already know, we have been part of the EnOcean Alliance for 13 years.

Today we would like to tell you more about this collaboration and present an independent scientific study on the subject of wireless systems in smart buildings.

About the EnOcean Alliance

Their vision is global collaboration between different industries to jointly create a digital environment that makes people’s lives easier through smart homes, buildings and spaces.

In addition to technology, sustainability is one of their main focuses They achieve sustainability with the so-called “energy harvesting” – the supply of buttons and sensors without a power connection or battery. Sounds crazy, right? Instead of a conventional energy source, the devices only use available energy from their environment. Through buttons, sunlight and much more, they absorb just enough energy to function for the required period of time and send radio telegrams.

The aim of the Alliance is for all companies to benefit from the joint cooperation and together create a network that is available to customers across all industries and manufacturers.

Eltako and EnOcean

Our products use the EnOcean wireless standard to communicate both with one another and with connected products from other manufacturers. This technology creates a smart home system that can control everything via one controller. The wireless transmission protocol ensures simple installation and flexible use of the devices.

You can put together your intelligent home room by room as you wish and use the various benefits of each product to get the most out of them.

Trend in the ‘Smart Buildings’ environment,
as well as a comparison of the suitability of wireless transmission protocols

This is the name of the scientific work mentioned at the beginning, written by Prof. Dr. Michael Krödel. Here you are given a deeper insight into the world of radio standards and their advantages and disadvantages are explained using tables.

If you are not yet sure which sensors you would like to equip your home with, you can read more about how they work and how they can be used here.

It is definitely worth reading for anyone who would like to delve deeper into the subject and learn more.
