The Transformation of a Former Police Station into an Innovative Supported Living Apartment Development
A new 24-hour Supported Living apartment development has recently been opened in Slyne Road, Lancaster, United Kingdom. This facility combines high-quality care with innovative technology, providing residents with special needs the opportunity to live as independently as possible.
The project was developed by Christian Geisselmann of MyEcoSystem in collaboration with Lancaster County Council. The aim was to create a supportive living environment that met the unique needs of residents while utilising cutting-edge technology. To bring this vision to life, Christian Geisselmann partnered with Thomas Alt of Ready Controls Ltd, a company specialising in bespoke modular controls packages. Together, they selected and integrated ELTAKO wireless technology products and the Nomos gateway into the development.
The ELTAKO control devices, including lighting, shading, heating, automatic windows, and doors, were integrated with the Nomos gateway for seamless app control. This enabled functionalities such as opening motorised doors and remote support, enhancing the residents’ independence and comfort. Thomas Alt, from Ready Controls Ltd, outlined the key reasons and advantages of using ELTAKO and Nomos Gateway in this project:
