If the JavaScript or Java will not be work or if your browser will crashed, check the
follow hints (Only for linux OS):
- Check, if JavaScript and/or Java is enabled (typical inside the preferences dialog of your browser,
i.e on mozilla edit->preferences->advenced)
- Check if you have installed a Java Runtime Environment (like Sun Java J2SE JRE 1.4.2-5
link to sun)
- Check if you have installed a Java Plugin for your browser.
Visit the plugin overview of your browser.
If no Java Plugin is installed:
- A JRE typical also contain the Java Plugin. Search inside your Java directory for a subdirectory plugins
- The plugins directory typical will contain three difference java plugins. Each of them is for different
Browser and compiler. I.e. the directory ns4 contain the plugin for a Netscape 4 compatible browser. The dirctory ns610-gcc32
contain the plugin for a Netscape 6.1 compatible browser thats are compiled with gcc-3.2 or later.
- Determine the correct plugin for your browser and make a symbolical link to your browser plugin directory.
Example: For Mozilla 1.4, compiled with gcc-2.95
'ln -s java_plugin_dir_/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so'
- If you choose the wrong Java Plugin your Browser crashed if you want to load a JavaAppet.
- If you use the Java JRE from Sun, please make only a symbolic link into your plugin directory, dont copy the Java plugin
(shared object) directly into youre browser plugin directory.
