CodeMeter Control Center

The CodeMeter Control Center offers several configuration options via the menu bar and the three major categories.

The cmu tool is the command prompt based alternative to this tool.

 

The CodeMeter Control Center is split in three major categories:

 

 

All categories contain two elements:

WebAdmin

Starts the CodeMeter WebAdministrator in your internet standard browser.

Status

Shows the status of the CodeMeter Runtime Server.
The default value is: CodeMeter is started.


The title bar offers different menu items:

 

 


  Menu File:

Import License

Import a CodeMeter CmAct License

WebAdmin

Start the CodeMeter WebAdministrator in your default Internet browser.

Logging

Activate/Deactivate the logging process. If activated CodeMeter will automatically create a logging file in the CodeMeter installation folder (default[windows]: [..\program files\CodeMeter\Logs]).

Prederences

Start the Configuration Page of the CodeMeter WebAdministrator

Quit

Closes the CodeMeter Control Center window without stopping the CodeMeter Runtime Server process.


 

  Menu Process:

Eject CmStick

Used to safely remove (a) CmStick(s).

Defragment License Memory

Defragment the memory part in the CodeMeter Chip (effects selected CmStick).

Update Time Certificate

Performs a Certified Time update of the selected CmStick.

Start CodeMeter Service

Starts the CodeMeter Runtime Server service/daemon.

Stop CodeMeter Service

Stops the CodeMeter Runtime Server service/daemon.


 

  Menu View:

Show all connected CmSticks

Prints a list of all connected CmSticks.

Hide Window

Hides the CodeMeter Control Center.

Refresh

Refreshes the contents of the event window.

Show all available Entries

Prints a list of all available CmStick and CodeMeterAct Entries.

List all open Handles

Prints a list of all currently opened and used CodeMeter handles, useful for developers.

Clear event windows

Clear all entries of the event window.

Copy event contents

Copy the contents of the event window.

Zoom in

Increases the scale of the contents.

Zoom out

Decreases the scale of the contents.

Borrow visible

 

enable/disable the Borrow tab.

This tab is only useful if your software vendor provides you borrowable licenses. A normal CodeMeter or CodeMeterAct license can't not be borrowed!

Register CmStick

Open the URL my.codemeter.com in your default Internet browser. On this page you may register yourself and your CmStick.

About

Shows a pop-up window with information about the installed CodeMeter components.


License:

 

 

The category Hardware gives some general information about your CmStick:

Name:

hows the Hardware/Firmware version of the selected CmStick/CodeMeterAct license.

Serial:

Shows the serial number of the selected CmStickCodeMeterAct license.

Version:

Shows the Hardware/Firmware version of the  selected CmStickCodeMeterAct license.

Capacity:

 

Shows the free space remaining in the selected CmStick.

This value doesn't include flash memory usage of a CmStick/M!

Status

Shows the enabling status of the selected CmStick.

  • Disabled - The connected CmStick is disabled and cannot be used by an application.

  • Enabled until unplugged - The CmStick is enabled while connected to the PC, after removal the selected CmStick will be disabled automatically.

  • Enabled - The selected CmStick is fully enabled (it will remain enabled after it is unplugged from the PC).

To change the enabling status, just click the select-box of the option you want. Your CmStick password is required to change the enabling status.

A WIBU-SYSTEMS BEST PRACTICE: Set the enabling option to "Enabled until unplugged". This way, you can be sure that if your CmStick is lost or stolen, no trespasser can use your CmStick licenses or your personal CmStick data (e.g.: your CmPasswordManager data)!

Use this button to change the Name of the selected CmStick.

  • Just click the button "Change Name" and enter the new name into the field in the Change Name" window.

  • Click the "OK Button" to execute the change.

triggers a LED blinking test of the selected CmStick.

 

Use this button to update the CmStick Firmware of the CmStick to the current version.

To execute the firmware update an Internet connection is required!

 

  • Just click the "Firmware Update" Button.

  • The CodeMeter Control Center will establish a connection to the Firmware Update Server at WIBU-SYSTEMS AG, via the Internet.

  • Now you will be asked to enter your CmStick password to authorize this new update.

  • The update of the CmStick firmware will begin; this may take a few minutes.

Do not remove your CmStick during the CodeMeter firmware update. This can cause serious damage to the CmStick!

  • " The following window will appear after a successful update:

  • Finally, unplug your CmStick and reinsert it.
    The firmware update is finished and you can begin using your CmStick with the new firmware version..

 

Special settings and actions are executed by using the three buttons located in the lower section of this window.

License Update

Starts the CodeMeter Field Activation Service (CmFAS) Assistant.
This CmFAS Assistant help you to add, to modify or to delete licenses from the CodeMeter licenses managment system.

Eject

Should be use to remove (unmount) the selected CmStick in a secure way.

Change Password:

 

 

Use this Button to change the current CmStick password.

Just fill in the fields in the "Change Password" window, i.e.:

  • Type your current CmStick password into the field "Old Password".

  • Type your new CmStick password into the field "New Password".

  • Retype your new CmStick password into the field "Retype Password".

  • Click the "OK Button" to execute the change.

 

If you should have forgotten your CmStick password, you can use your CodeMeter Master-Password to create a new CmStick password.

Just activate the option "Input Master-Password" (the Yes radio button) and type your CodeMeter Master-Password in the "Old Password" field.

It is also possible to obtain a new CodeMeter Master-Password. Detailed information can be found in the CodeMeter FAQ.

 

Change Name:

Use this button to change the name of the selected CmStick.

  • Just click the button "Change Name" and enter the new name into the field in the Change Name" window.

  • Click the "OK Button" to execute the change.

The Event Windows contains general information like:


 

Borrow:

The "Borrowing" Tab informs on borrowable licenses as a feature of CodeMeter License Borrowing. Then licenses can also be used when the access to license information does not require to be connected to the license server. You can toggle the view of this tab using the View | Borrow visible menu item

This tab is only useful if your software vendor provides you borrowable licenses. A normal CodeMeter or CodeMeterAct license can't not be borrowed!
